
A human rights activist, Chief Stephen Ejiofor Lyida has expressed delight over the rural development policies of Enugu State Government, describing it as unprecedented.
He also hailed the governor Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his style of appointment of people into office without discriminatory tendencies, a feat, which according to lyida, marks out governor as not only an outstanding leader, but also a visionary leader.
Chief lyida who spoke to Echo News correspondent at Ogrute, Enugu Ezike in Igboeze North Council Area of the state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has demonstrated his passion for rural development through appointment of capable hands to man the seventeen loc al government areas ahead of the coming council elections fixed for February 29, in the state.
The right activist extolled the governor for appointing Prince Dr. Emeka Mamah as Chairman, of transition committee, for Igboeze North local government council, saying it’s step in the right direction.
According to Chief lyida, who was recently selected as the Igwe-elect of proposed Obede autonomous community in the area, “ The appointment of Prince Mamah by the governor was apt because of his wealth of experience in business and human administration, which he will bring to bear on the local government leadership.
“ Prince Mamah is vibrant, and has the capacity to drive development into the rural communities, in line with the vision of the state government and aspirations of the rural dwellers”, he stated.
Chief lyida who appealed to the people of Igboeze North to rally support and cooperation for the success of the new transition chairman, promised to mobilize his community towards keying into the development mantra of the Ugwuanyi administration.
Meanwhile, in a similar development the recently elected president – general (PG) of Umuogbo – Agu community also in Igboeze North, Chief Idoko Boniface was full of praises for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for fulfilling his promise to remunerate the town union PGs in the state.
He thanked the governor for appreciating the service of the town union leaders, who will continue to partner with the traditional rulers and stakeholders to boost development of their communities.
Chief Idoko promised not to disappoint his community and assured that with cooperation of members of his executive, and other stakeholders, they would render selfless service to the satisfaction of the people.
Also, the chairman of Neighborhood Watch Group, in Umuopu Agu, community Mr. Moses Ali expressed gratitude to the governor for deploying strategies aimed at securing life and property across the state.
According to Ali; “ Governor Ugwuanyi has worked assiduously to ensure that Ndi Enugu enjoy comfort and basic amenities. It has not been easy especially with the merger resources available to the state. It is therefore expected that Enugu people should support his administration to enable it take the state to an enviable height.”
